Why does my Litter-Robot keep saying waste is full? ›

Check for obstructions blocking the drawer full indicator (DFI) sensors. There are two sensors inside the base, above where the waste drawer would sit. Debris, such as dust or cat fur, can interfere with the DFI sensor. This can cause the unit to inaccurately trigger a drawer-full indication.

There are three laser sensors located in the top of the bezel, called curtain sensors, that accurately measure the capacity of the waste drawer. During each Clean cycle, the DFI sensor will measure the level of waste within the waste drawer as the waste port passes over the waste drawer.

Press the Reset button.

Any time you affect the weight or placement of the unit (including emptying the Waste Drawer, adding or removing litter, or cleaning or moving the unit), press the Reset button to ensure the Weight Sensors will detect your cat and cycle properly.

Any debris on the bezel, such as dust or cat fur, can interfere with the DFI sensors. This can cause the unit to inaccurately measure the waste drawer level. Wipe the bezel area where the sensors are located with a dry clean cloth to remove debris such as hair or dust.

Blue flashing

If your unit's light bar is flashing blue, this indicates that the waste drawer is full. Empty the waste drawer, press the Reset button, then press the Cycle button.

Tap on the Settings gear in the top right corner. On the Robot Settings page, tap Firmware Updates. On the Firmware Updates page, tap Update to begin the update process. This may take up to 30 minutes to complete.

How to reset the Litter Robot 4. Every time you add litter or empty its waste bin, you should press the bold “RESET” button on top of the Litter Robot 4.

Press the Reset button while the globe is at the Home position with the blue light bar on to reset the cat sensor(s). When pressed during a cycle, it will pause the cycle. If pressed again while paused, it will abort the cycle.

IMPORTANT: Any time you do anything that affects the weight or placement of the unit, including adding or removing litter, emptying the waste drawer, or moving or cleaning the unit, press the Reset button once you are done.

If your unit is stuck during a cycle, short press the Reset button to continue and complete the cycle. If your unit is still stuck and it is in an error state, long press the Reset button for 3 seconds to zero the weight scale. Turn Litter-Robot off and unplug the unit.

Litter-Robot 4 features an enlarged waste drawer, so you may only need to empty the waste drawer once every two weeks per one cat. With Litter-Robot 3, once every 10-12 days per one cat is usually sufficient; two cats, twice per week; three cats, every other day, and so on.
