The film, which is written and directed by Richard Curtis, explores themes of love, loss, cheating and unrequited love between eight interlinked couples in the run up to Christmas.
Harry (Alan Rickman) cheated on his wife Karen (Emma Thompson) with Mia, Mark (Andrew Lincoln) was secretly in love with his best friend's wife (Kiera Knightley) and even touches upon childhood love between Sam (Thomas Brodie-Sangster) and Joanna (Olivia Olson).

Alan played the character of Harry, a managing director of a design agency, who broke his wife Karen's (Emma Thompson) heart after he got down and dirty with his secretary behind her back.
He later falls for Mia (Heike Makatsch) and purchases her a Christmas gift - but his wife assumes it is for her - and she finally put's two and two together and realises he's cheated on her.
Alan, who sadly died in 2016, couldn't be more worlds apart than his on-screen alter-ego as he was married to Rima Horton after meeting when he was 19 and she was 18.
The Harry Potter actor suffered from a minor stroke and was later diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer in January 2016 and died aged 69.
Daniel - Liam Neeson

The 67-year-old actor played the devoted dad Daniel to 13-year-old Sam whilst trying to get over the death of his wife.
In 2009 the Taken actor had to deal with the bereavement in real life after his wife Natasha Richardson died after hitting her head on a skiing trip at the Mont Tremblant Resort neat Montreal.
She was rushed to a hospital in New York and sadly died two days later.
“I was told she was brain dead... She was on life support and stuff," Liam told 60 Minutes in 2014.

Thomas was just 13 at the time and played the little boy Sam who was on a mission to tell his American classmate Joanna (Olivia Olson) that he had a crush on her.
The rom com was just the start for the actor, now 29, as he has gone on to star in a range of amazing films including: Nanny McPhee, Nowhere Boy and Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens.
He's also played the role of Jojen Reed in Game of Thrones and even voiced Ferb in the popular Disney Channel series Phineas and Ferb.
Despite all of his success, one thing that has got fans of the film talking was the five year age gap between Sam and Kiera Knight (Juliet) and how much older she looked than him.

Andrew, 46 played Mark - the best friend of Peter (Chiwetel Ejiofor) who was married to Juliet (Kiera Knightley) - and little did anyone know that he was keeping a very big secret.
Despite being best man at Peter's wedding, Mark was actually in love with Juliet and soon declares his undying love for her on Christmas Eve.
Laughing off his stalker ways to Entertainment Weekly, he said: "In one of the most romantic movies of all time, I got to play the only guy who doesn’t get the girl. The story is set up like a prism looking at all the different qualities of love. Mine was unrequited. So I got to be this weird stalker guy.”
Since the film, Andrew has played the main role in the American post-apocalyptic horror series The Walking Dead.

Since the movie, the beauty has been lucky in love and regularly shares pictures of her boyfriend on Instagram - but little is known about the identity of her lover.
Love Actually landed her the role of Vanessa Doofenshmirtz on Phineas and Ferb from 2007 to 2015 with her co-star Thomas and the voice of Vampire Queen on Adventure Time.
